Sorry for the late updates..
fyi, the reps of MPP@SRCUTP are going to meet the management and DJernih in a meeting this afternoon, in order to get back the Trio into UTP. We’ll bring along the results of our online survey which currently the number of respondents is 1989 (a nice-looking number)
We hope that we manage to bring back the Trio, because we are there to bring the students’ voice. we are all 1 UTP, we need to get our rights, as a students, as well as the consumer..
Pray for our success…
(i’ll post the updates later…stay tuned)
“Students are the vast majority in all institutions of higher education — and yet are treated as non-entities when decisions are made. Far from pining for a few token seats on academic and administrative committees, we work toward universities defined by participatory democracy: schools run from the bottom-up, not the top-down.
Student power, in this framework, is also a solution to the seemingly irretrievably fragmented activist left on campuses. A whole panoply of student activist campaigns, from socially responsible endowment investment, to equitable budget funding, to environmental policies, to affordable tuition, to diversity, to workers’ rights (both on campus and off), are necessitated because students are powerless in the face of the modern university bureaucracy.
For Student Power seeks to chronicle, analyze, and support student struggles for power on their campuses and in their communities.”
